Many of us struggle to build a work-appropriate wardrobe. When our work environment is business-casual, it’s even harder sometimes to know where to draw the line between what is okay for work and what is better saved for nights and weekends. Lucky for you, we’ve rounded up a list of things that should never be worn to the office.
Yoga Pants And Leggings
This one is generally an argument between millennials, who often deem the look work-appropriate, and Gen Xers and Baby Boomers, who are likely to think the opposite. So if you’re in a young environment and see your bosses wearing leggings, you can probably assume it’s ok. If nobody else is doing it, chances are you shouldn’t either.
A Lot Of Animal Print
Those cheetah print pants you rocked at the club last night? You probably don’t want to be seen in them in the light of day. Trust us on this one.
Crocs
Whether or not you love that these plastic shoes are back in style, they’re probably best saved for the beach. And no, just because they are platform crocs doesn’t make them more acceptable for the office.
Anything See-Through Or That Lets Your Undergarments Show
Ladies, we know you love your sheer tops, but if you’re wearing it to work, make sure to have a camisole or undershirt beneath it. If that tank top’s thin straps show off your lacy bra, that probably also calls for a cardigan on top. This rule goes for men too – make sure those pants are pulled up all the way!
Stained Clothes
We know you loved those white pants, but once you’ve spilled red wine on them at happy hour, it’s time for them to go. What would you rather have – a paycheck or the pants? It’s up to you.
