Brunch has become our very own runway – we turn up to meet our friends over a light meal dressed up head to toe, only to then go home and change back into our sweats. Ever hoped you could feel just as comfortable, yet stylish when going for brunch, dinner, or even anywhere out on the town? Well, now you can, thanks to former American Apparel designer and model, Eliana Gil Rodriguez.
The 28-year-old has started a new Los Angeles-based line named Gil Rodriguez and her main focus in mind when creating a new fashion brand was to come up with comfortable clothing. “I’m getting older and I just want to be comfortable all the time. But it became harder and harder to find good basics,” says brand owner. Now, her new collection offers tank tops, square-neck leotards, and super-soft leggings.
Classified as being “essentials,” the new range is designed to make the most out of versatility. Since there are only six pieces to the range, the clothing allows you to make just as much sense at home or going out on the town. Currently, Gil Rodqiguez wears her Via Olympia unitard to her weekly barre class or for work when she pairs it with a waist-whittling sash belt. The piece alone is available in shades of white, dove grey, and black, allowing buyers to have the perfect shade to match their outfit.
With Normal Kamali and Issey Miyake as her inspiration since these are “companies that have maintained their own aesthetic over the years and haven’t had to reinvent themselves constantly,” her line is based on “The idea is that [these pieces] don’t change every season,” says the brand owner. Gil Rodriguez hopes her pieces are always available and will offer specialty colors from time to time. “My goal is to have something that people can really count on and come back to,” she adds.
