Salem: The Town Where It’s Always Halloween

When Halloween shows up every year, everyone gets into the spirit! There’s the long search for costumes, buying all the spooky decorations for your house, and of course – the candy! But once the holiday comes to an end, we have to resign our costumes to the closet, pack up all the decorations and can’t bear the sight of anything sweet for at least another month or two!

But there is a place, a very special place in America, where Halloween is celebrated practically every single day of the year! Yes, fans of ghouls, ghosts, goblins, witches, and warlocks – the place that you’re looking for is Salem, Massachusetts!

As avid fans of Halloween, we were more than delighted to hear about a friend’s recent visit to the town. If you’ve never been before, it’s crazy to hear that there are people dressed up in kitsch Halloween garb literally all year round! What more could you possibly have asked for? Finally, a place that doesn’t shun you for wearing a witch outfit to work or picking up your kids as a zombie!

Salem is a town that has quite a dark past. In the years 1692 until 1693, they were the home of the now famous Salem Witch Trials. During these obviously farcical trials, otherwise innocent women were cross-examined in order to determine whether or not they were witches in a public trial. If found guilty, they were sentenced to death!

However, in more recent years, the local legends about hauntings from that dark era have become a tourist magnet for the town and every October, over 500,000 visit the town to see whether they can experience something spooky! Whether or not you believe in all the hocus pocus and tales of witchcraft or not, the truth is that visiting the town is a memorable experience and one that should definitely be on your list if you like the idea of wearing silly costumes without feeling any shame!
