40+ Celebrity Fashion Fails From the Met Gala That We Can’t Forget

40+ Celebrity Fashion Fails From the Met Gala That We Can’t Forget

One of the most significant fashion moments of the year is undeniably the Met Gala. This event heralds a lot of in-your-face fashion and unique looks that match the event’s theme. Some of those, of course, are winners — while others make us cringe. From Kristen Stewart’s frumpy snakeskin top to Jennifer Love Hewitt’s bare midriff and feathered white skirt ensemble, we’ve collected some of the most significant Met Gala fashion fails from over the years to reminisce about.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is known for being a pretty stylish person, but sometimes her choices make us scratch our heads. Choosing to don this Balenciaga design, she walked the 2021 Met Gala carpet and definitely turned some heads.

Kim Kardashian

It turns out, though, that Kim wasn’t fully on board at first. In fact, according to the powerhouse, “I fought against it. I was like, I don’t know how I could wear the mask. Why would I want to cover my face?” she recalls. “But Demna and the team were like, This is a costume gala. This is not a Vanity Fair party where everyone looks beautiful. There’s a theme and you have to wear the mask. That is the look.”

John Galliano

The 2001 Met Gala, which focused on Jacqueline Kennedy’s fashion, was the breeding ground for a lot of the worst looks ever to be seen at the event. Unfortunately, many of those poor looks came from fashion designers themselves.

John Galliano

John Galliano, who’s an English fashion designer, chose to wear this brightly colored blazer with embroidered floral print. To be perfectly honest, we’re not sure John understood the assignment.

Madonna

Madonna has always been a cutting-edge fashionista. She tends to go for ensembles and outfits that are a bit outside of the box and so, when she walked the carpet in 2009, she chose a unique bunny ear look that really made her stand out.

Madonna

Of course, standing out isn’t always necessarily a good thing. Although the pop star sported bunny ears made by the iconic Louis Vuitton, the look as a whole still didn’t quite meet the Met Gala criteria for that year.

Pete Davidson

Sometimes, the themes of the Met Gala can be pretty broad — so, when the theme was American fashion for the 2021 Met Gala, that was just the case. So, it’s easy to see why there were some big misses during that year’s event.

Pete Davidson

Pete Davidson chose to wear Tom Brown, and though it definitely does fit the American fashion theme, it has a bit of a priestly look that didn’t quite sit well with everyone.

Naomi Osaka

Louis Vuitton, a sports All-Star, and the Met Gala carpet seemed like a combination made in heaven. But, that’s only if the sports All-Star can find the right look, and unfortunately for Naomi Osaka, she did not.

Naomi Osaka

The Met Gala is definitely a place to be experimental, but nothing about this outfit worked. In particular, the hair was a certain point of contention.

Kim Petras

Musicians tend to go way out of the box when it comes to choosing their Met Gala uniform. Kim Petras definitely took that to heart when she dressed in a 3D horse head and bodice for the 2021 Met Gala.

Kim Petras

Still, these unconventional ideas don’t always translate as well as one might think — which is exactly what happened here…

Shailene Woodley

2018’s Met Gala was intended to pay homage to heavenly bodies and the Catholic imagination. This left a whole array of ideas up in the air that could have been fantastic, but Shailene Woodley didn’t pick any of them.

Shailene Woodley

Looking to portray Joan of Arc, she went with a Ralph Lauren outfit. Unfortunately, it didn’t get quite the applause she thought it would. In fact, many people liken it to a particular cartoon villain’s look.

Jessica Simpson

In 2001, the Met Gala decided they wanted to honor Jackie Kennedy and her iconic fashion sense during her years in the White House. There were beautiful period pieces, and almost everybody hit the mark except for Jessica Simpson.

Jessica Simpson

That year, Jessica Simpson wore an off-the-shoulder dress that might have been a perfect on-the-mark piece if in a traditional color. Instead, we’re unsure what she thought when choosing this pearlescent pastel color scheme.

Jaime-Lynn Sigler

Jamie-Lynn Sigler built quite the reputation for her portrayal as Meadow in The Sopranos. So, when she was invited to the Met Gala in 2003, she jumped at the chance to address the theme in the best way possible.

Jaime-Lynn Sigler

Unfortunately, the t-shirt style dress that she chose didn’t quite meet the theme of Goddess: The Classical Mode. It just fell a little short.

Zac Posen

Zac Posen is a fashion designer and so, you’d think he’d hit the mark every time he makes an appearance at any type of red carpet event. But in 2004, when he made his walk down the Met Gala carpet, his look was not quite as stunning as most thought it would be.

Zac Posen

In 2004, the theme for the Met Gala was Dangerous Liaisons, so he opted for a bullfighter-esque style. It just wasn’t a well-thought-out look!

3LW

The early 2000s to the mid-2000s saw a rebirth of girl groups. One of the biggest of the time was 3LW, and in 2001, they got that special invitation to attend the Met Gala. However, it appears that they didn’t get the memo about the theme.

3LW

While we understand that these ladies were fairly new to the spotlight at this point, someone should have stepped in to help them correctly — and appropriately — pay homage to the theme of Jacqueline Kennedy: the White House years.

Victoria Beckham

When most people think of Victoria Beckham now, they think of a fashion designer and icon. But, she wasn’t always as fashionable as she is today. Just take a gander at this look from the 2003 Met Gala.

Victoria Beckham

Sure — you can see that she was trying to meet the theme, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. In fact, it may be one of her worst looks ever.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

We all have our own idea of what “rock style” is. Most of them probably involve some sort of leather. But, when Jennifer Love Hewitt attended the Met Gala in 1999, she had something completely different in mind.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

This bare midriff and feathered white skirt just didn’t cut it then, and it definitely doesn’t cut it now. In fact, we’re sure that when she looks back at this picture, she probably cringes just a bit.

Anna Wintour

Anna Wintour is one of the most well-known names in the fashion industry — it’s a name that everyone knows and respects. Because of this, you’d that she’d nail her outfit every time she hits the Met Gala carpet. That may be the case for most years, but in 2004, she seemed to be less than perfect.

Anna Wintour

With the theme being Dangerous Liaisons, many expected the Vogue editor-in-chief to opt for something a bit edgier. Instead, she went with this encrusted crystal overcoat with a strange neckline.

Polly Mellen

When you’re an iconic fashion editor, you get access to a wide range of designers and looks. This tends to develop into a world-class style, but sometimes, you don’t always make the right choices.

Polly Mellen

In 1989, the Met Gala theme was the Age of Napoleon, and Polly Mellen just didn’t find the right outfit or look to make a splash on the red carpet.

Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton has never been looked at for her fashion sense. So, the fact that she walked the Met Gala red carpet in 2001 was a bit strange to some. Still, her name was pretty popular at the time, so that’s probably why she wound up at the event.

Hillary Clinton

Unfortunately, because of her lack of fashion, she went for a gold and animal print dress. Though the style was suitable for the Jackie Kennedy theme, the color palette and pattern were not.

Sandra Lee

She may be able to create one heck of a dish in the kitchen, but when it comes to choosing looks for the Met Gala red carpet, Sandra Lee lacks a little bit of skill. In 2014, she chose to wear this bridal look.

Sandra Lee

Though it may be a stunning look to walk down the aisle, it doesn’t really suit the Met Gala carpet. Frankly, it just seems a little out of place!

Freida Pinto

When we think of Indian actresses, we picture bright colors and beautifully-designed clothing. When there’s a theme involved, though, your style may not totally suit it. In 2011, Freida Pinto found that out the hard way.

Freida Pinto

She was definitely on the right path — as the theme was Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty — in her ivory silk Chanel gown. Still, this look was more old Hollywood glam than it was savage.

Kimora Lee Simmons

Models are looked at as fashion icons by millions of people across the globe. Of course, one of those models is Kimora Lee Simmons, who strikes a beautiful pose with this perfectly chosen outfit.

Kimora Lee Simmons

The 2008 Met Gala focused on superheroes and so, it makes sense that Simmons chose this brightly colored halter dress. Though it definitely resembles what a superhero would perhaps wear during a night out, the dress just didn’t have the right fit or look to land Simmons on the best-dressed list.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Asian culture has introduced a lot of fantastic things to the Western world — one being fashion-forward looks. In 2015, the Met Gala thought that they would shine a light on this. They chose to focus on the fantastic fashion of China.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker is known to have iconic style — as both herself and her on-screen character, Carrie Bradshaw — and so, she chose a pretty exciting headdress. Unfortunately, this accessory seemed just a little tone-deaf when it came to Chinese culture.

Serena Williams

Alexander McQueen was known for his classic lines and iconic style and so, it’s no wonder that the Met Gala chose to honor him in 2011. Though Serena Williams thought she was doing just that, unfortunately, the look fell flat.

Serena Williams

A haltered, feathered flapper style look did not suit the tennis star’s frame — nor the fashion of the red carpet at this Met Gala.

Nicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is known for having eccentric taste when it comes to fashion. This is her image, so it’s not surprising that, in 2017, she chose to take it up a notch on the Met Gala carpet.

Nicki Minaj

She obviously wanted to dress according to the theme — Japanese label Comme des Garçons and its founder, designer Rei Kawakubo. Unfortunately, she chose to do so by wearing a leather Obi belt featuring a mask of the face of Kawakubo…

Timothee Chalamet

In 2021, the Met Gala focused on American fashion. So, it comes as no surprise that some attendees would incorporate a little street style into their look — like, for instance, wearing a pair of Converse.

Timothee Chalamet

Timothee Chalamet did this with a pair of white converse and paired it with a white suit. Though it did meet the theme, many felt that it just didn’t work with the outfit.

Amanda Gorman

This American poet has words that make your heart sing. And though this dress would generally be a hit, there was one thing that could have been a little less political — the handbag she chose to go with it.

Amanda Gorman

Many people take the opportunity to make a statement on the carpet, but it might not have been the best option at this moment in time.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles has made quite the splash in fashion over the past couple of years, being as cutting edge as possible. So, when everybody heard he was going to be at the Met Gala, they assumed that his outfit would be spectacular.

Harry Styles

Instead, he went for a very conservative Gucci outfit. While it looked fantastically chic and matched with all of his other accessories, the overall look just didn’t rise to the occasion.

Karlie Kloss

Being the host of Project Runway, you’d imagine that Karlie Kloss would have a hands-down perfect outfit for any Met Gala outing. But in 2021, with the theme, the looks were meant to be a little riskier.

Karlie Kloss

Unfortunately, this fashionista didn’t get that memo and came out with a reasonably conservative Dapper Dan look. Maybe she thought the puff sleeves were risky enough, but this actually came off as more of a classic look.

Kristen Stewart

When you think of American fashion, oftentimes, people think of combining leisure or activewear with more fashionable pieces. This can be a great combination if done right.

Kristen Stewart

Though some found Kristen Stewart Chanel’s couture look at the 2021 Met Gala fantastic, others felt that it looked a little frumpy. In particular, the snakeskin top combined with the wide-legged pants didn’t quite work together.

Rihanna

Another controversial look at the 2021 Met Gala was Rihanna and her Balenciaga outfit. From her beanie to the black wrap dress — and the jeweled accessories — Rihanna’s ensemble was the perfect representation of the theme.

Rihanna

So much so that Ri was the last celebrity to arrive at the 2021 Met Gala! Unfortunately, others thought her outfit looked very sloppy, probably due to the large ruffles and the unstructured fit of the dress.

Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo has become the talk of the town over the past year with her hit single. So, it’s not surprising that she got an invite to the Met Gala, where she chose to wear Yves Saint Laurent.

Olivia Rodrigo

As a nod to punk music and her debut album, the rocker decided to wear a see-through lace jumpsuit. Though it hit the mark theme-wise, she could have gone for a different look. Still, this was her first Met Gala so we’re sure her style will evolve as time goes on.

Taron Egerton

Taron Edgerton walked the red carpet thanks to his epic portrayal of the iconic Elton John in the biopic Rocketman. Because of this, in 2019, he was expected to really show up in character — especially since the Met Gala theme was a camp theme.

Taron Egerton

Instead, he chose an elegant and classic-looking suit that just wasn’t as campy as some thought he should have gone. Too bad he could have really been the shining star of the Met Gala carpet.

Kris Jenner

It seems that the Kardashians can’t quite get the idea that there are themes set for these Met Gala events. That’s why they wind up on these Met Gala fail lists, just like Kris Jenner did — thanks to her look at the 2019 Met Gala.

Kris Jenner

This jumpsuit, with a few choice accessories, didn’t quite hit the mark when it came to the theme of camp-inspired fashion. Though it looks fantastic, it definitely is also an epic fail for the Met Gala.

Sara Sampaio

In 2019, there were a lot of people that just didn’t quite hit the mark when it came to the theme. One of those happened to be Portuguese supermodel Sara Sampaio. Instead of getting campy with her look, she went a little more classic — which, in this case, is a total failure.

Sara Sampaio

The supermodel sported an August Getty Atelier gown, which would have been perfect for prom, but it was less ideal for the camp-themed Met Gala.

Shawn Mendes

Camping fashion can be interpreted in multiple ways — you can choose your fashion according to what you’d camp in, or you can opt for something that’s simply campy (absurdly exaggerated, artificial, or affected in a usually humorous way). Still, Shawn Mendes went for neither of these looks at the Met Gala.

Shawn Mendes

This classic look was meant to be something of a statement, but all it did was fail to meet the requirements of the Met Gala carpet. At any other event, this would have been a stunning look, but it just fell flat at the gala.

Hailey Baldwin Bieber

It seemed that the 2019 Met Gala led to a lot of people just falling short of what the intended look was supposed to be. Hailey Baldwin Bieber was, of course, one of the people that walked the Met Gala carpet — and unfortunately, even though her Alexander Wang dress was beautiful, it was not campy.

Hailey Baldwin Bieber

The skin-tight open-back pink dress flowed nicely and was beautiful. But, even the velvet bow in her hair wasn’t enough to transform the look.

Katy Perry

Sometimes, people take the themes too literally when choosing their outfits. When you hear heavenly bodies, many people automatically imagine angels. That must have been what happened when Katy Perry chose her outfit for the event.

Katy Perry

The Versace wings she chose to wear were quite literal. Even though she’s known for her crazy outfits, it seemed to be a little over-the-top.

Lana Del Rey

Going over the top is a tradition for the Met Gala. Sometimes, over-the-top can be too much, though. That may be the case when looking at Lana Del Rey’s outfit for the 2018 event.

Lana Del Rey

Her outfit was pretty outrageous, but she also walked the carpet with two bearded men (Jared Leto & Alessandro Michele), who we assume were supposed to resemble Jesus. Perhaps, though, this was a little too religious for some!

Grimes

Product placement isn’t something most people think of when they look at Met Gala outfits. But in 2018, when Tesla owner Elon Musk walked the carpet with the Grimes, it sparked quite the conversation.

Grimes

In fact, both of them wore Tesla-inspired accessories, which didn’t quite match the theme of Heavenly Bodies. We’re sure he probably thinks that his company is something that belongs in the stars — it just doesn’t scream Catholicism.

Thandie Newton

Frequently, the Met Gala is focused on a particular designer or style. In 2017, the focus was on the art of the in-between with a spotlight shining on Kawakubo. In a nod to this, Thandie Newton decided to wear a red drawstring dress with Swarovski crystals and a very interesting hat.

Thandie Newton

This look was all wrong with too much rushing and, of course, that very odd hat drew attention away from the actress’s beauty.

Mandy Moore

Sometimes, you can pick and choose things from an outfit that one of the stars wore on the Met Gala carpet. Occasionally, though, the stars that walk the carpet somehow find a way to butcher the entire outfit.

Mandy Moore

In 2017, beloved actress Mandy Moore didn’t quite get it right with her Michael Kors gown. We’re not entirely sure what possessed her to choose such bright, lavender eyeshadow — but it really throws off the whole look if we’re being honest.

Kendall Jenner

Yet another member of the Kardashian-Jenner clan has found themselves a culprit of one of the biggest fails in Met Gala history. Kendall Jenner, who’s known for her looks and modeling career, has sported several fabulous red carpet looks.

Kendall Jenner

This attire didn’t quite live up to her reputation. Sporting an almost lingerie-style dress, the look didn’t quite hit the mark at this particular Met Gala.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid is known as one of the most beautiful models out there and makes many red carpet appearances. In 2017, she chose to rep Tommy Hilfiger — but perhaps she should have gone for a different look altogether.

Gigi Hadid

The cut and styling of the piece just didn’t flatter her or the high-end fashion of the gala. Because of this, it was the talk of the gala… and not in a good way.

Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa has a specific look and reputation when it comes to events. But, for this Met Gala, he chose to go a little more classic with his look. Unfortunately, the look didn’t quite pan out. That being said, at least he tried.

Wiz Khalifa

The white suit with the black piping almost made it look a little like he was stepping right out of an old black and white cartoon. It just didn’t hit the mark, and many people questioned this fashion choice.

Dakota Johnson

Trying to match the theme, Dakota Johnson opted to wear a pretty voluminous dress that had an almost goth-like look for her walk down the 2017 Met Gala carpet.

Dakota Johnson

Unfortunately, though she tried her hardest, a few pieces of the dress just didn’t work. In fact, her gown had so many ruffles, people could hardly pay attention to anything else.

The Most Bizarre Celebrity Conspiracy Theories Of All Time

Avril Lavigne Was Replaced By A Clone

Everything you thought you knew about your fave celebrities is a lie! To begin with, sometime in 2003, Avril Lavigne died and was replaced with a look-a-like. It was a Brazilian blogger that claimed this and provided pictures from 2003 until now where the singer’s nose, wrist, and birthmarks look different. Oh and apparently there are clues in her lyrics. “That day you slipped away was the day I found it won’t be the same,” Lavigne sang in 2004.

Beyoncé Is Actually Solange’s Mother

There may be a dark secret in the Knowles family that involves these “sisters.” According to theories, Beyoncé became pregnant and gave birth to a baby when she was young, which her family covered up by raising the baby as her sister. However, given Solange was born five years after Beyoncé, this seems unlikely. However, theorists say Beyoncé was not actually born in 1981 and that her real birth certificate hidden by her parents shows she was born in 1974. If true, she looks great for her age.

Taylor Swift Is Belly Button-Less

Taylor Swift doesn’t wear high-waisted outfits for a fashion statement, but she does it to cover up the fact that she doesn’t have a belly button! This is not the first conspiracy about the singer, but certainly the strangest. The evidence is hundreds of pictures where her waistband conveniently falls above where her belly button should be. Taylor put an end to the theory in 2015, “I don’t like showing my belly button. When you start showing your belly button, then you’re really committing to the midriff thing,” Swift said.

Lorde Is Forever Young

The theory emerged in 2014 when the singer told Rookie magazine that she related to the 1999 film as a teen, “The Virgin Suicides really resonated with me as a teenager. I mean, I am still a teenager,” Lorde said. Many considered this quote to be a slip-up in Lorde’s big secret. It would also mean that Lorde would need to have been born in the early ’80s and would make her 40-years-old now. The singer fueled the theory saying, “I’m actually 45,” as a joke, of course.

Britney Works For The White House

Britney Spears was used by a US President as a way to distract the world from his administration’s mistakes. It is believed that Britney’s 2007 meltdown year, which included her shaving her head, was all a result of her working as an instrument for the administration to take the attention off the president. More precisely, on November 6, 2007, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline announced their split a day before a key midterm election. Good excuse for her behavior – but we’re not buying it, Brit!

JonBenét Ramsey Became Katy Perry

JonBenét Ramsey is the 6-year-old beauty queen whose unresolved murder is one of the most mysterious of our time. However, according to some people, the pageant child never died and is actually known today as pop star Katy Perry. The theory first arrived in a YouTube video in 2014 which pointed to evidence that there are similarities between the two as well as between their parents. The theory went viral and is one of the most well-known in the celeb conspiracy theory world.

A Vision Of Wonder

Stevie Wonder, the legendary singer-songwriter famous for being blind, has just been pretending for the last six decades. According to ESPN’s Bomani Jones, the artist frequently attends basketball games, once caught a mic stand, is interested in photography, and has once taken a photo. It seems the Wonder does all this and other things that are typical of people who can see. Furthermore, in 2016, Stevie was seen “looking down” at an envelope to present an award at the Grammys.

The CIA Murdered Reggae

A theory believed by some people out there who have popped a crazy pill or two claims that the CIA murdered Bob Marley because he and other reggae musicians were working together to alert the public of the CIA’s attempt to bring down the Jamaican Prime Minister, Michael Manley. To add to the conspiracy, ex-agent Bill Oxley confessed on his death bed to killing the artist. Whether the ex-CIA agent was telling the truth or not, we may never know.

Paul McCartney Is A Dead Man

A theory out there claims that the Beatles star, Paul McCartney, actually died in a car accident in 1966 and was replaced by a look-a-like. Proof? When played backward, words in the track “Revolution 9” sound suspiciously like “Turn me on, dead man.” To add to this, at the end of their other hit “I’m So Tired,” there is mumbling. When played backward this can be imagined as “Paul is a dead man. Miss him. Miss him. Miss him.” Fans are continuing to uncover clues.

Keanu Reeves Is Immortal

According to a very credible website, Keanu Reeves has an immortal soul and has lived thousands of years through a number of identities, all of which have been famous. According to the site, “If you have any additional information about the identities that Keanu assumed during his everlasting life or any theory about the source of his power” then you should let them know at info@keanuisimmortal.com. While the claims seem farfetched you can see that Reeves barely changes throughout the years in pictures.

One Direction Babygate

Back in 2016, former One Direction band member, Louis , became a dad to baby Freddie. Since then, he and the baby’s mom have remained hidden from the spotlight. Fans suggest the baby is either a doll or doesn’t exist. The conspiracy named “Babygate” was founded on the idea that the whole pregnancy, birth, and photos of Freddie were faked to distract the world from “Larry Stylinson” – the supposed secret relationship between Louis Tomlinson and fellow band member Harry Styles (the name is a combination of their first and last names).

Anne Hathaway Is Married To William Shakespeare

Apparently, sharing a name with the wife of William Shakespeare means that maybe Anne Hathaway is married to the man himself, but reincarnated, obviously. Anne is actually married to Adam Shulman, who could be the famous writer in a new life. To be fair, the resemblance is pretty uncanny. “Shakespeare made a deal with his wife: ‘I get to be famous in this life and you get to be famous in the next,'” one person theorized.

Justin Bieber Is A Shapeshifting Reptile

Bieber is not just a lizard, but a shapeshifting one at that. In 2017, he was seen by an eyewitness in Australia transforming into a lizard in daylight. Websites then offered other “quotes” from eyewitnesses saying, “He was hanging around with this big guy, his bodyguard I guess, and we were just staring because he kept turning into a huge reptile.” His bodyguard threatened them if they didn’t put their phones away. If Justin doesn’t like having his photo taken, it is now clear why.

Blue Ivy Is Satan’s Child

While one conspiracy theory suggests she is the mother of her sister, another says Beyoncé was never actually pregnant with her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. Instead, she and Jay-Z used a surrogate. This came about when Beyoncé sat down for an interview and the video footage showed her belly apparently folding. Some say that Blue Ivy is the remaking of Eulb Yiv, Satan’s daughter, although it is not quite clear where these bizarre people got this idea from.

Marilyn Monroe Was Murdered

As there was a lot left unknown, the death of the Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe remains one of Hollywood’s greatest mysteries. While authorities claimed that her death was likely caused by suicide, many believe she was murdered instead. Why? There are many reasons, and they include being killed by the Mafia because of her alleged involvement with the Kennedys, the fact she “knew” UFOs exist, and that the CIA killed her because she discovered secret intel about Area 51.

From Director To Astronaut

A year after filming the sci-fi classic 2001: A Space Odyssey, the theory goes that the U.S. government hired Stanley Kubrick to fake the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969. The reason? Filmmaker Patrick T. Murray claims to have Kubrick on tape just days before his death in 1999 confessing to this. Despite this, his daughter refused to believe the conspiracy saying, “But, claims that the moon landings were faked and filmed by my father? I just can’t understand it!!?” Another thing that proves otherwise is, well, science!

The Hiddleswift Publicity Stunt

While Hiddleswift dominated celebrity gossip for weeks in 2016, many are skeptical about Tayloe Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s relationship. Firstly, there is a conspiracy that she cheated on Calvin Harris and used Hiddleston to cover it up. Many say their romance was a publicity stunt for both of them. Pictures were taken too often of the couple in front of windows at restaurants and it was as though they were reading from a script when talking about one another.

Mistakenly Accepted Oscar

Was it lucky or just simply a mistake? In 1993, newcomer actress Marisa Tomei won an Academy Award for her role in My Cousin Vinny. She was in the running against other more well-respected actors nominated for heavier roles. However, conspiracy theories started to spread that the 74-year-old presenter Jack Palance had read out the wrong name. In 1994, Hollywood Reporter wrote, “…last year Marisa Tomei received her Oscar statue by error, with a resultant scandal about it soon to be exposed.”

Tupac’s Death Was A Hoax

The legendary American rapper, known as 2Pac, had reportedly died from getting involved in a shooting back in 1996 after leaving a boxing match. However, some conspiracy theorists believe this to be a hoax and that the artist used his “death” to escape to Cuba from his increasingly dangerous celebrity status. What makes this believable? Firstly, the shooters were never found. Secondly, 2Pac always wore a bulletproof vest. And thirdly, the man who cremated the rapper strangely retired immediately afterward.

Zac Efron’s Secret Role

When season two of Stranger Things aired on Netflix, fans noticed that new character Dacre Montgomery, who plays Billy, has a striking resemblance to the popular actor Zac Efron. This began a barrage of memes, tweets, and comments with impressed fans. The resemblance was so alike that people began to announce that Billy was actually Zac Efron’s father in the Stranger Things universe. But will Efron then make an appearance in a later season? We will see…

Steve Jobs

This photo was taken in 2008, which was seven years after Steve Jobs tragically died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 56, someone posted an image online of a man in Egypt who looks a hell of a lot like Steve Jobs. “Steve Jobs is hiding in Egypt after faking his death,” the post reads. While there are similarities, many people have noticed that he’s not wearing an Apple Watch. All we can say is that with or without the watch, we remain unconvinced..

Megan Fox

Some believe that multiple doppelgangers have steadily replaced Megan Fox over the years. For whatever reason, her own fans came up with this insane theory that she doesn’t actually exist but has been replaced by newer versions of herself at several points in her career. As the theory goes, her appearance has changed so much that she must be an entirely different person. There’s also the possibility of plastic surgery, but doppelgangers make much more sense…

Megan Fox

Prince Harry Hewitt?

This theory has been around for a while now, but with time it has lost its appeal. The assumption is that Prince Harry’s dad is actually someone other than Prince Charles, but a man named James Hewitt. After Princess Diana passed away, former British Army officer, James Hewitt, claimed he had an affair with her from 1986 to 1991. One look at the guy, and it’s no surprise some people really think he’s Prince Harry’s real dad. Well, they don’t look un-alike…

Prince Harry Hewitt?

Oh, Jennifer

We all know that actors and actresses are incredibly dedicated to their work, so much so that they will stage all kinds of stunts to stay relevant—kind of like Jennifer Lawrence, who fell at the Oscars in 2014. Many in the audience felt Jennifer Lawrence faked or exaggerated the infamous 2014 awards show fall that almost took down three of her celeb peers. According to these discerning observers, Lawrence pulled the stunt to maintain her adorably clumsy, approachable name.

Oh, Jennifer

Nicki Minaj

After some very devout fans slowed down some of Nicki Minaj’s songs, they discovered her voice sounds an awful lot like Jay-Z. So that would mean that Nicki Minaj is obviously Jay-Z’s voice sped up. So Nicki Minaj is apparently Jay-Z’s Female Alter-Ego. Jay-Z is one of the biggest names in the industry and he dominated the music biz as a male… why not as a female? And the blonde lady? She’s just a cover. That’s the story, and they’re sticking to it.

Nicki Minaj

Lindsay Lohan’s Twin

According to this bizarre theory, Lindsay Lohan always had a twin, but she passed away. That would mean that The Parent Trap actually featured both Lindsay Lohan and her real twin, “Kelsey.” After filming was done, “Kelsey” Lohan tragically passed away in a car accident, and Disney covered it up so the highly popular film could feature on schedule. Fans of this theory believe that’s why Lindsay has turned to illicit substances, out of guilt and shame for her deceased twin.

Lady Gaga

Frustrated by her lack of success, then-backup dancer Lady Gaga decided to take the life of artist Lina Morgana and assumed her identity, copying her look and style. She did this all for the sake of fame and fortune. If we’re totally honest with ourselves, we would be asking, who is Lina Morgana? Most people haven’t heard of her and according to believers, Gaga’s “Monster” is all about Morgana’s murder and the man who helped Gaga pull it off.

Kirsten and Robert

We can all recall that time when Kristen Stewart was photographed kissing her director behind Robert Pattinson’s back? Apparently, that was all part of their plan. This theory claims that Kirsten and Robert faked their split in the most public way possible not only to amplify publicity for their respective films but to protect their relationship’s privacy for the rest of their lives. While Kirsten has since been seen dating female partners, the conspiracy theorists claim one of them was her cousin doing them a favor.

Kurt Cobain

Kurt Cobain’s fans are still heartbroken by his tragic passing, so much so that they made an entire documentary based on this sad and crazy theory. In Soaked in Bleach, the case is made that Courtney Love convinced one of Kurt Cobain’s friends to kill him and make it look like Kurt did it. The theory alleges that Courtney Love was so panicked that Cobain was going to leave her, she freaked out and had him offed so she could keep all his money. All we’re wondering is, did Courtney have the wherewithal to have pulled this off?

Louis Tomlinson

It would seem that the social curiosity that drives people to speculate about celebrities’ love lives is pervasive and common. One of these theories includes Louis Tomlinson, of One Direction’s, who faked the birth of his son. Apparently, he was concerned the world would reject Louis Tomlinson’s secret love with fellow One Direction bandmate Harry Styles. Hence, their record label falsified the birth of Tomlinson’s son, Louis, with his ex-girlfriend, Brianna. The conspiracy is now referred to as “baby gate” and gained traction on Twitter in 2015.

Suri Holmes’ Real Dad

Katie Holmes has taken many precautions to ensure her daughter’s life remains private, but what if there’s more to it than that? Holmes used her ex-husband’s strange behavior and unusual beliefs as excuses for keeping Suri away from her “dad,” but some have speculated that the real reason is that Tom Cruise isn’t her father at all. Instead, Suri is Chris Klein’s child, since Holmes dated Klein right before she started seeing Cruise, and the timeline does fit given that Suri wasn’t seen publicly for the first five months of her life.

John Lennon

There’s another Beatles conspiracy theory out there, and this time it’s that John Lennon wasn’t killed by Mark David Chapman in 1980, but by none other than Stephen King. According to proponents of this theory, King must be the real murderer of John Lennon because King kind of looks like Chapman. He had permission to murder Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, who were both annoyed by Lennon’s pacifist efforts. It’s definitely a weird theory, but that is what this list is all about.

The Real Slim Shady

In the early 2000s, Eminem was one of the biggest rappers to ever hit the scene. But after his 2004 album, “Encore,” he took a five-year break before coming out with “Relapse.” Why the long hiatus? Mathers attributes it to writer’s block. But according to a conspiracy theory post, the Illuminati tried to recruit Eminem, which he refused, and so the Illuminati eliminated him through a car crash. Then the Illuminati fabricated a new Eminem to replace the old one. Umm, ok.

Taylor Zeena Swift

Taylor Swift’s uncanny resemblance to the former high priestess of the church of Satan, Zeena Schreck, has been common knowledge on the internet for quite some time now. And all the rumors of a more profound connection have reached a fever pitch recently. Obviously, the two women have a few things in common that make it difficult to ignore, but can their connection merely exist on the surface? This theory may be crazy but the evidence is hard to shake off.

J.K. Rowling

When Nina Grunfeld, a Norweigan Filmmaker, looks at J.K. Rowling, she doesn’t see one of the all-time greatest rags-to-riches stories. She saw a cover-up. Grunfeld put forward her theory in a newspaper article that asked, “Is it possible that one person can write six thick books and sell more than 250 million copies in less than ten years?” Grunfeld says, “No.” What’s more probable, is that the woman we know as Rowling is an actress behind the franchise that was manufactured up by others intent on creating a multimedia cash cow.

Bob Dylan

The elusive question here is, did Bob Dylan actually write his classic folk anthem “Blowin’ in the Wind”? It would seem that the answer, my friend, is no, according to this conspiracy. This theory first surfaced in 1963 in an article that “threw Dylan into a depression for months,” according to his biography. The song was supposedly written by a New Jersey high-school student named Lorre Wyatt. Dylan bought the song from Wyatt, or stole it, depending on which version of the story you believe, and put it on his second album.

The King is Alive

For those looking for a glimmer of hope, there could hardly be more heartwarming news. Apparently, the King of Rock’ n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, is alive and well. The theory is that Elvis orchestrated his own death to get away from fame and the public eye, and in the 40 years since he ‘died,’ Elvis has been enjoying an active life and eventually settled in Argentina. So Elvis, if you’re out there and have access to the internet, feel free to let us know you’re there!

Paul Walker

Just before he died in a fiery car crash, Paul Walker was hosting an event for his charity Reach Out WorldWide to benefit victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Conspiracy theorists say Typhoon Haiyan was the wrong disaster to help with. As ever, though, that won’t stop those who leap to blame the Illuminati for every celebrity death. In Walker’s case, the secret society wanted him dead because he wanted to leave acting. And they simply could not have that.

Brittany Murphy

The state of affairs surrounding the death of Brittany Murphy and her husband, Simon Monjack, which both occurred within five months of each other, are definitely strange. While a coroner credited both to pneumonia and anemia, several other theories came out in the aftermath of their passings. One such theory implicated that there must have been some suspicious agenda behind their deaths after a toxicology report came back with results that were positive for “ten heavy metals,” leading many people to believe that she was intentionally poisoned.

Pippa Middleton

Pippa Middleton was talked about for months after her sister’s royal wedding, and it was her perky caboose that stole the show. Many have speculated that she intentionally wore a fake derrière to emphasize her behind. She was going to be on international television, so we don’t really judge her. Numerous royal experts agree: Kate Middleton’s little sister, Pippa, wore a butt emphasizer of some sort to her sister’s wedding to Prince William in 2011. She looked terrific, though, so what’s the problem?

The Illuminati Celebs

It has been said that basically all celebrities are members of the Illuminati, which, according to its website, “is an elite organization of world leaders, business authorities, innovators, artists, and other influential members of this planet.” They are tasked with ensuring the survival of every human on the planet. Beyoncé even “confirmed” her involvement when she sang, “Y’all haters corny with that Illuminati mess,” during her track “Formation.” Other celebrities allegedly involved are Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian.

Khloé K Is Fake

And we are not talking about the numerous amounts of plastic surgery she has had. Apparently, this K is not actually a true Kardashian. People have accused Khloé of actually being the daughter of OJ Simpson. The theory that has been lingering for years was re-awakened by Amber Rose in 2015 during a Twitter feud. Khloé herself saw the light of the situation and referred to the conspiracy saying, “Some days I’m OJ’s daughter. Others I’m Robert’s daughter.”

Nicolas Cage Is A Vampire

Cage may be many types of actor, but to some, he is also a vampire. The conspiracy emerged when a photo taken in 1870 of a man that has a truly striking resemblance to the actor appeared on eBay. The man who posted the picture believes Cage is a vampire who reinvents himself every 75 years or so. However, for the most part, his roles in Vampire’s Kiss and Ghost Rider are where his bloodsucking days end. Nicolas pointed out himself the fact you can’t take photographs of vampires.

Michael Jackson Is Alive

MJ’s daughter, Paris Jackson, posted a photo to Instagram of herself in a car. Immediately, conspiracy theorists and social media users used the photo as “proof” that the figure in the back of the car was Michael Jackson himself. Despite an LA coroner confirming his body was in the bag, theorists continue to seek the “truth.” There’s a whole website dedicated to “sightings” of the King of Pop. Some even say that he faked his death to make more money through sales.

The Most Talked About Feud Was Staged

In addition to her many other conspiracy theories, Swift has been accused of yet another publicity stunt. Many believe that her almost eight-year-long beef with Kanye West was completely made up. Despite the pair appearing like they hate each other and putting all that effort into their disagreements, these two may have more in common than we thought and their fight has just been for show. Oh, and they are both part of the Illuminati!
