Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Open Up About How They Make Their Marriage Work
All About Ryan
Before looking at Lively and Reynold’s marriage, let’s look at how the couple came to be. Ryan Rodney Reynolds — originally from Vancouver — is a Canadian-American actor, film producer, and entrepreneur. He is the youngest of four sons and began his acting career starring in the Canadian teen soap opera, Hillside.
Reynolds is probably best known for his roles in romantic comedies such as Chris Brander in Just Friends and Will Hayes in Definitely, Maybe. In February 2018, Reynolds acquired a stake in Aviation American Gin and oversees the product’s creative direction.
Ryan’s Round-Up
Ryan Reynolds has appeared in many television shows and films over the years, but his most successful franchise is the film adaptations of Deadpool. Deadpool originally came from Marvel Comics in the early 1990s, however, has since been adapted for the screen with Reynolds’ playing the titular character.
The 2016 release of Deadpool exceeded box office expectations, raking in a massive $783 million. Many critics enjoyed Reynolds’ performance, as well as the film’s style and ability to stick to the comics. Deadpool 2 was released in 2018 and work has since begun on Deadpool 3, which will look at Deadpool within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Getting the Gossip on Blake
Blake Lively was born in Los Angeles, California and has an older brother, two half-sisters, and a half-brother. Despite being a successful actress, this wasn’t always her dream. When she was younger, her parents took her to acting classes instead of leaving her with a babysitter. She comes from a family who are all — or have been — in the entertainment industry.
Lively had dreams of attending Stanford University. However, her brother, Eric, persuaded her to audition for a few roles between her junior and senior year of high school. From these auditions, she landed the role of Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which ultimately launched her acting career.
Long Time Acting
Lively’s role as Trixie/Tooth Fairy in the 1998 film Sandman was her first taste of acting. She was cast when she was ten years old. Her father, Ernie Lively, was the director of the film. However, Blake placed more focus on her education and became class president, a cheerleader, and a member of the championship choir during her time at Burbank High School.
After landing her role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lively famously joined the cast of Gossip Girl. Over the show’s five-year run, she played the show’s main character, Serena van der Woodsen, who returns to New York City after her time at boarding school.
A Jagged Little Pill
Ryan Reynolds began dating Canadian-American singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette in 2002 after meeting her at Drew Barrymore’s birthday party. The pair got engaged in 2004, just two years after they started dating. However, it was not all “perfect” and they eventually split in 2007.
Morissette has made it clear that the end of their relationship was completely one-sided, and was reported to be devastated when Reynolds moved on a few weeks later. Morissette’s song, “Torch,” insinuated that she didn’t see their split coming and even hinted at their future… “I miss your warmth and the thought / Of us bringing up our kids.”
