Jewelry trends might not change as radically from season to season as much as bags, clothes, and shoes do, but the exceptional designs that appeared on the Spring/Summer 2020 catwalks were too gorgeous NOT to highlight. Yes, pearl accents and shell jewelry are still very much “A Thing” this season, but there are also great new trends in the mix like sculptural designs worthy of a museum, bright green statement earrings, playful geometric shapes, and cute friendship-looking bracelets.
Diamonds might always be a girl’s best friend, but designers have proved that accessible, natural materials like stones, beads, rope, and simple metals are just as gorgeous and worthy of your Instagram feed. So, let’s have a look at some of the cutest spring jewelry trends for some inspiration!
Colorful, Artsy Jewelry

Forget sticking to silver and gold, designers have brought on an explosion of color for Spring 2020’s jewelry. Color-blocked designs and Bold jewel tones will turn heads this season.
Modern Pearls

Pearls are going strong for the spring this year. The classic material made appearances in just about every form – from layered necklaces and single drop earrings to everything in between, jewelry made of pearls is a great choice for the ladies looking to get into the trend with their looks.
Big Hoops

Hoop earrings never really left, but make sure to get ready to see them multiply in size next season. Thick, gold, and double-hooped for extra measure, hoops are an excellent choice for a different look. Multi-layered hoops are a trendy update to more classic styles. But the best part? Some designs allow you to detach hoops and build your own sets, so you can wear multiple earrings at once.
Subtly Asymmetrical

Opulent and outrageous earrings with mixed jewels, textures, romantic details that do not quite match are definitely in this spring.
Multicolored, Beaded Necklaces

Floral dresses are best complemented by textured necklaces. These styles are great to wear on the beach and beyond.
Size and shape are key elements of the spring jewelry trends, with styles skewing towards the big and the sculptural, from chains to the huge gold hoops and structural, shoulder-skimming earrings.
25 People Who Were Caught Twisting The Truth On The Internet
When you like in a place that doesn’t get so much sunlight, everyone you know wants to catch those sunbeams at the beach. Seeing someone come back from spring break in the Bahamas making you green with envy?
Shaking Our Heads
Sometimes people post things online that just don’t make any sense when you think about it. In this case, when it comes to social media platforms, pictures don’t just leak from your phone onto them as if pulled down by gravity. It just doesn’t work like that; even if you selected the wrong file to upload by accident, you have the option of deleting it. This woman took it a few steps farther, even writing a caption instead of taking the picture down.

Not Too Bright
Many of the lies on this list were exposed publicly because other people offered additional information, proving a lie was told. This liar, on the other hand, dug her own grave. How ironic is it that she claimed to have above average intelligence based off of an online IQ test, all the while everyone could see that her intelligence is decidedly less than average? While using IQ to judge actual intelligence is not without controversy, we think it’s safe to say Charley here isn’t very clever at all.

Caught Red-handed
Internet protocol says that you should never take a picture from somewhere else and claim it is your own to support a made-up story that you created to raise your self-esteem. It’s a bit pathetic and not at all worth the risk of getting caught like this lady was. She reposted an image that can be found all over the internet and was caught red-handed, which made her look that much more pathetic. Sorry, lady! We know you didn’t get that at Starbucks.

A Lovely Lie
This guy picked up on what we’re pretty sure is an egregious lie by this beautiful woman. While it is possible that she went out late and had a hard time getting up this morning, every girl knows how unlikely it is that the makeup from the night before would stay on your face so well without smearing. If you’re going to write a caption for your fantastic photo, make sure it makes sense for the text to be paired with the image.

Mystery Photographer
Social media, for better or for worse, has been transformed into a place where we can reinforce the image that we desire the world to see. If you want people to believe that you have a pristine, perfect marriage to your partner, make sure the pictures you post to support this are believable. Is the internet supposed to believe that you suffer from a rare condition similar to sleepwalking called sleep-taking-selfies? That is just slightly more believable than the bedbugs using your phone’s camera.

Fishing For Compliments
Many of us portray ourselves to be completely different people from what we actually are. Had she really been called ugly in middle school, the picture on the right would have made her out to be someone who overcame victimhood by maturing into a beautiful woman; therefore, she is worthy of our admiration. As it stands, though, it looks like the only person who thought this woman was ugly when she was a girl in high school was herself.

Outside
One of the great tragedies of the internet age is how the sheer amount of information and influx of instant reader gratification has caused journalistic standards to plunge. Outside used to be a well-respected publication that served as a springboard for the writing careers of many accomplished authors, but now they can’t even get their captions right. They probably never thought that the guy in the picture would tell them off for claiming that he would give the same fitness advice as the magazine, but he did.

Get The Facts Straight
One of the most pernicious problems in this age of (dis)information is how images are distorted to promote some agenda or other, but this also makes it funnier when someone pointed out how badly things have been misconstrued and mislabelled. While both the British and the French have tons of priceless artifacts stolen from around the world, but in most cases that theft happened so long ago that no one is alive anymore to get this emotional at seeing them in another’s hands.

Harry Styles
This guy tried to make it look like he took advantage of the former One Direction singer, even though it didn’t happen. Unlike someone else on this list who actively tagged the celebrity about whom he made up his story, the would-be prankster was smart enough not to connect the post to Harry Styles. That didn’t stop the singer from finding out about this lie. Styles didn’t really seem to mind too much what was said about him, as long as he could expose the lie.

Blinded By The Light
This guy clearly is not covering his eyes because of the sunlight, as he claims in the comment. Even if it was the sun’s reflection from the vehicle on his left that was blinding him, the sun would have to be at a different angle. He was caught in his lie. Why would he make a stupid story like this up? Instead of helping their friend perpetuate this obvious lie, someone decided to spread truth and clarity. Give them a medal!

Another No-No
Sometimes people post things online and we can’t understand why. What did this person think to accomplish by telling everyone their phone fell into the cake batter? How can someone not notice a phone falling into cake batter? And what camera did they use to take the picture if the phone was in the oven? If they wanted people to think they’re stupid, that goal has been accomplished. Now the whole world knows that you’re an idiot and a liar — congratulations.

Kudos
While making the choice to ensure that your consumption footprint leaves no animal suffering or abuse is admirable, social media isn’t a place to boast about this choice the same day you ate a bowl full of animal cruelty — and from two different species, no less! The people commenting on how proud and inspirational the would-be vegan is makes it that much worse. If you want to boast about quitting something, make sure that you stopped enough in advance that no one can make you look like a fool.

Sorry, Nashville!
It’s comforting that it’s not only we normal folks who get caught lying on the internet. Let’s hope Sam Smith didn’t lose all of those fans who were hoping to see him right after the show and went home early because he told them he was turning in. They had to wake up the next morning to find out that some lucky bar in Nashville got to hear the Cockney crooner singing karaoke versions of his favorite hits.

Amen… Not!
Some people may say that what’s important here is spreading God’s message, not whether or not this exchange really happened. To those people, we say what kind of message is that? The kid was told not to be bad or else he won’t get presents, and he responds that he has faith that through God “all things are possible” (i.e., getting gifts under the tree despite bad behavior). That sounds like the wrong message you want a little kid to learn ahead of` the holiday season.

Incriminating Images
There’s really no shame in being single. Don’t try to make people believe otherwise, especially not if that involves using a photograph that came from an adult website. Not only do you risk getting embarrassed publicly in front of your friends, but also your whole family. Even grandmas are now on Facebook. Do you really want Nana to know what you’re doing with your spare time in front of the computer instead of going out in the real world and meeting a nice girl?

False Advertising
Pretty much every single word in this guy’s sentence is a lie: first of all, they’re not brand new; second, they’re not in a box; third, they’ve clearly been worn because this dude is wearing them in his profile picture! Evidently, he believes they are the right shape for him, because why else would he have uploaded a picture of himself wearing these shades for his profile? Luckily someone spotted all of this and raised the alarm before some mug fell for this.

World Record Holder
People do tend to exaggerate things; it’s human nature. When they’re behind a computer screen, however, it provides them with some sort of imagined protection, making them that much more audacious in their lies. As you can see with Rob here, he threw all decorum out the window when he claimed to have broken the world record for this run. If you’re going to lie about something, at least do some research so that it sounds remotely believable.

Busted in Bristol
It takes a strange couple to work together and try to convince people on Reddit that a photo of their girlfriend is actually her mother from the ’70s. And yet, people online still managed to work out the lie, from one small detail. The girlfriend didn’t take into account that she was wearing a FitBit for the photo. Normally, one can’t be expected to get away with wearing modern accessories and passing off the photo as being 50 years old.

Bow Wow Yippy No Yippy Nay
If anyone is familiar with rap songs from the early ’00s, they will remember the young MC ‘Lil Bow Wow. These days, this guy refers to himself as just Bow Wow. However, he is living proof that even celebrities aren’t bulletproof when it comes to getting away with lying online. When Bow Wow posted this photo of a private jet, he wrote that he was on his way to NYC. Little did the rapper know though that he had his photo taken from behind, showing that he was on a commercial flight just like the rest of us.

Fake-Cation
We wouldn’t want to hazard a guess as to how many people have tried to pull the following trick on social media. How many of us have sat on a beach towel in our garden and tried to make it look as if we are at the beach? What we know for sure is that this guy tried to do it. Although he was sure he was in the clear after posting this convincing selfie on Snapchat, he didn’t know that someone was watching him in the background…

Super Shady
Do you know what never lies? That’s right folks – reflections. So many people have been busted online for shooting themselves in the proverbial foot. By this, we mean that they have taken a photo of themselves, only to reveal the truth in a mirror or in the reflection of a shiny surface. Take this guy, for example, who claimed on social media that he was stuck in traffic. The only problem was that he didn’t pay attention to the fact that the reflection in his shades begged to differ…

I Am Lost for Words
When we first saw this tweet, we were convinced that the guy was playing some sort of sick joke on the internet. There is no chance that he actually thinks that “am” doesn’t exist in the English language. He has to be messing around. But then, why would one dedicate a tweet to this falsehood? Our only logical explanation is that this person didn’t go to school. Thankfully, someone came along to put him in his “am-less” place.

A Con Artist
For a start, why would someone feel the need to post a portrait of themselves on social media? It seems so self-centered. If this really is a painting, what was stopping the guy from proving it by taking a photo of the entire painting, either in a frame or on the canvas it was painted on? To be fair though, the person in the comments section has a point. Filtering photos should be considered an art form. It takes a lot of time and effort.

The Liar’s Diet
Do you know what’s worse than a celebrity discovering lies about them online? That’s right, that same celebrity calling out the news outlet on social media and creating unique hashtags to ridicule them for their lies. Actress Keeley Hawes was lost for words when she discovered that The Daily Mail had accused her of losing 14 pounds for her role in Bodyguard. While losing and gaining weight for roles is something that many performers do, she was quick to put the website in their place.

Ghost Selfie
Make no mistake about it – this couple isn’t the first to try and pull off this classic social media lie. The amount of people that try to create the impression that they are sleeping during a selfie is absolutely horrific. Obviously, many will ask the following question: “who was taking the photo if you were asleep?” And of course, the person isn’t actually sleeping. It seems even more pathetic when two people are doing it together. Our only other explanation is that a ghost must have done it.

Uh, Check Again
Anyone who is familiar with American currency should know that a quarter is a pretty easy coin to decipher in terms of how much it is worth. In other words, it is a fourth of a dollar, which makes perfect sense. With that said, we don’t know why the following person thought that “a quarter a day for a year will get you $9,125.” While we appreciate the person’s comment and how tongue in cheek it was, it did make us wonder. Does this person actually have limited edition quarters?

A Marvelous Mistake
To be fair, some might be confused by some of the bigger superheroes, from time to time. And yes, Superman and Spider-Man are two of the biggest superheroes of all time. Both have names that begin with “S” and both end their names with the word “man.” In reality, though, that’s where the similarities end. One is a DC superhero, while the other was created by Marvel. Then there’s the fact that one has a spider web pattern on their costume, and it’s not this one…

Introducing…The Freckle Filter
There is no denying that freckles are a facial feature that phases in and out of what is considered to be beautiful. Apparently though, this photo was posted on social media during a time when they were definitely “in.” This is because the following person doesn’t actually have freckles. Instead, they were determined to superimpose them onto a selfie. And that’s not all. It’s also clear that the person edited the colors of their hair and their eyes too.

A Time Traveler’s Nightmare
People can’t seem to get enough of vintage photos on social media. There are entire Reddit threads dedicated to beautiful images from bygone eras. A photo that can hark back to a specific time and place is a treasured relic in the eyes of many. So when someone tries to deceive vintage photo enthusiasts, like this person, it doesn’t take long before many realize it’s fake. As soon as the Powerade could be seen, there were so many negative comments.

Covering Up the Cracks
Don’t you just love it when someone claims that they are the victim on social media or Whatsapp, only for someone to call them out on their lying ways? While this person tried to convince their friend that they had been affected by a road accident, the person was quick to put them in the place. Apparently, they had seen the person reverse into a brick wall, causing the damage that can be seen in the photo attached.

From Musk ‘Til Yawn
It seems like all tech publishers have something to say about Elon Musk and rightfully so. The SpaceX CEO seems to have his hand in many pots at this time of his life and you would think that he wouldn’t be bothered by what news outlets have to say about him. And yet, Musk took to Twitter to call out Wired for writing the following article. As you can see, the businessman wasted no time ripping into Wired and even admitted that he unfollowed them a long time ago.

What the Dell?
People can get into all sorts of arguments about human anatomy and who knows the most about a variety of medical matters. However, this person was doing a lousy job convincing others on a Reddit thread that they knew what they were writing about. Word of advice, future med students – if you are going to lie about which medical school you have studied at, you better make sure that it is one that has not just opened…

Strong Genes? More Like Wrong Genes…
Many people look just like grandparents and can’t help but share photos of how much they look alike on social media. However, there are times when people try to make the following kind of lie, for reasons we are unaware of. This young lady felt the need to convince people on social media that the image on the left side was of her grandmother from back in the day. Apparently, all it takes is a black and white filter…

What Came First? The Lies or the Eggs?
A spectrum of different colored eggs is a beautiful thing to look at. However, when someone tries to convince people online that they open this pack of eggs and this is how they appeared, we find that extremely difficult to believe. As you can see, someone online revealed how they discovered that this was a lie. All they did was right-click and click “search Google for image,” and it turns out that this image is a few years old.

Savage Seth Strikes Back
Another celebrity who has no problem taking some time out of his busy schedule to shoot down trolls on social media is Seth Rogen. What he hates more than anything though is when people online claim that he DM’d them when in reality he didn’t. As funny as Seth Rogen is, we have a tough time believing that he would slide into someone’s DMs just to write this four-letter word. With that said though, if any celeb was going to do it, it would be him.

An International Liar
We suspect that the reason this person lied about the location in the photo was that it’s considered more romantic to declare your love in Paris than in Sydney, Australia. However, any cultured individual will know that the Sydney Opera House is in the background of this photo. Word of advice – if you are planning on revealing your engagement, make sure that you remember which country you got engaged in. And if you do remember which country it was, make sure you don’t lie about it online.

Puppy Post
People post things online to get reactions from them. Maybe it makes them feel better; maybe it makes them feel like they’re important. Whatever the reason is, you just end up looking like a jerk once someone finds out that you’re just another liar. What makes this worse is how this woman made it seem like a crime was committed by leaving these puppies out in a parking lot. As for her, she comes out as some kind of puppy patron, but this is a lie.

No Severance Pay For You
It’s really scary to be unemployed, but luckily many countries offer some sort of unemployment benefit until you get back on your feet. And while you should feel no shame in asking for help if you’re in a bind, shame on you for quitting just so you can freeload on the generosity of others by lying about how your previous employment was terminated. Indeed, it’s pretty low. Thankfully there was a good Samaritan who saw this and called this mooch out.

Something Doesn’t Add Up…
People try to come off as cute on social media just as much as they post things for attention. This guy was caught doing both while he claimed to be at the library. After weaving a lie involving a lighthearted but false Facebook sabotage, people were able to unravel it fairly easily by spotting some blatant inconsistencies. If you’re going to try and attempt something like this in the future, make sure you cover your tracks better and write this from a computer!

Another Genius
This piece of internet gold proves that just throwing a lot of smart-sounding terms in a post and sending it out in the world doesn’t make you smart. People exaggerate things all the time on the internet, but thankfully there are those who make it their business to expose these liars for the fools they really are. Just to refresh your high school chemistry, valence electrons are those revolving in the outer ring of an atom. Electrons are never part of the nucleus.
